We've decided that to play I Spy on a road trip round Canada is pretty boring. You can only have R for Road, T for Tree or L for Lake. Canada does lakes like nowhere else I've ever been. Forget Lake Windermere - it is a mere puddle.
This is a beautiful lake that is so lost and small and insignificant that it doesn't even have a name. Oh that? thats just another lake, we have plenty.
We came across Churchill River that we presume has been redirected for the Churchill Power Plant
Churchill Falls town is here purely for the families of those that work at the power plant. It's pretty dire
This is the pub - very friendly bar maid and some good conversation with the construction workers for the road who live in a trailer park nearby and work one month on and one week off for "the season". The season is any time that there isn't snow. Some years its longer than others.
and this building houses the hotel, the school, the restaurant, the library and the supermarket. It is a big brown building in the town centre. It IS the town centre
On to Goose Bay tomorrow another 180 miles. We think that about 80 miles of it is paved which will be nice. There is a group of bikers here that are riding the other direction so we have swaped stories of riding conditions in each direction.
Am really looking forward to my day off on Saturday. Will be doing very little indeed. I have black fly bites on my face that have swollen to the size of a ping pong ball and am hoping that the antihistimines that I got at the local clinic here today will make some difference but can't take them until I've finished riding tomorrow as they may make me drowsy.
