Well they call it Happy Valley. Haven't seen enough of it yet to say why. The road from Churchill Falls to here is pretty good and I'm still upright so it must all be OK. My demons are getting less ugly by the day.
We are all looking forward to our day off tomorrow. Late start, long lazy breakfast and then we'll go and find out why they are all happy round here. In checking the bikes over when we got in, two people found problems. Tony has lost a pretty crucial bolt that has obviously rattled loose and Gary had lost a bracket for his pannier which has also vibrated off. The pannier part was sorted within half an hour after asking the receptionist at the hotel if there was anywhere that might help. A local welder made a replacement part exactly the same with the thread matched to the existing. It took him 15 mins and he charged us $10 (about £7.50) A replacement part over in UK would have cost about £50, (thats if they would sell it separately)
Have also had to fit a new SatNav cable as Fanny Annie stopped talking. Luckily we had brought the spare part with us but it took a bit of fitting by Ian. Its very off putting seeing your bike without a tank
The bikes are absolutely filthy, and the dust is everywhere. We had some rain today which made for less dust clouds but the gravel and dirt was more slippery. You can't have everything I suppose.
We have finished the day with a team meal and the joke this evening was about a flea on holiday in Omar Sharifs moustache along with other places that are unmentionable.
