It is very odd to get on the highway and take the slip road that says West. It's been a pretty quick trip today retracing our route when we arrived in St Johns and then taking the road to the ferry. The road from the main highway down to the ferry was a great road and I wished it had been longer. We got to a very small village just before the ferry terminal and on the left there was a bloke standing on the back of his pick up waving his arms and pointing. Couldn't work out what he wanted until he did antler impressions. It was a moose, in fact it was two moose!! What a result, we were beginning to think that the whole of Canada were lying and there was no such thing. I have now seen bears and moose, I am satisfied.
We were all here pretty early for the boat, it was in dock and like you do we hung around talked about bikes and met others in the lane. There are a lot of bikes on this ferry
We have a little cabin to ourselves which is very nice and it also has a window, we were a bit concerned that we might end up in an inside cupboard. It's a long trip, 16 hours in all, and could be a bit boring. I bought a book but only got a few pages read. Dinner at the buffet was great, and we met some guys from the Canadian Veterans and spent some time with them. They had been in Newfoundland visiting relatives and done about 1400 miles in a week.
Craig and George have swaped their most precious pin badges and contact details and will meet again when Craig returns. It means he must now come back
We ride the Cabot trail tomorrow and hope the weather stays fine. It will be spectacular we are told. We are then starting to talk about our final days riding and packing up the bikes for return. Can't believe it is nearly over but looking forward to a few days in Halifax and in Toronto with my Aunt and Uncle.
