Ooops We Lost the Van Man

Four of the group have decided to stay behind in Quebec City for an extra night, the rest of us have moved on as planned up the coast to a little town called Tadoussac.  The ride has been absolutely brilliant.  Up and down the hills, moving a little in land and then back out along the coast line.  Some of it reminded me very much of Swasea Bay and the Mumbles.

We left Quebec and stopped off just outside the City at this waterfall.  It cost a fortune just to get in and park and then would have cost more to go up in the cable car and cross the bridge.  It was drizzly and we were all togged up in our waterproofs so we decided just to carry on and find somewhere nice to stop for lunch instead.

We sent a message to the van man (Ian) and turned off onto the coast road.  What a brilliant route.  We found a great place for lunch and sat for probably 2 hours over a 3 course affair on the veranda watching th world go by.

Unfortunately the one thing that didn't go by was the Brit Bikers U Haul van man.  He didn't get the message until it was too late and had taken the high road.  Well the high road got him there before us, way way before us.  By the time we got to the hotel he had been there for ages waiting like a mother hen.  He loves us all really even though he missed out on a good lunch.

To get to Tadoussac you have to catch the ferry to avoid a trip round the inlet of miles and miles.  The ferry runs continuously 24 hours a day, 2 ferries just going back and forth.  The journey is free and takes about 10 minutes.

The ferry terminal at the other end is just 100 yds from the hotel which is beautiful and our room overlooks the water at the front and the lake at the back.

Leisurely breakfast tomorrow morning and then we are being picked up by coach at 9am to go out whale watching.

  3. Tyres seem to be Ok Jim. Profile of back tyre is a bit rounded so it sort of falls round corners but they are good. Won't get onto the gravel until Wednesday. We start the TLH tomorrow but the first bit is old rubbish tarmac

  4. Glad you aren't letting the weather spoil the fun. Hope you get some photos of the whales. You've been lucky finding Internet access all along the route so far.
